UI Design / Mockups / Branding / Prototyping / iOS DevelopmentWelld Health is a startup based in Charlottesville, VA that delivers wellness programs and establishes integrated health ecosystems for physicians, workplaces, fitness clubs, and individuals. They commissioned V4 to build their marketing website and iOS app. This was the first project at V4 where I co-led design with the company’s creative director, presenting in client meetings and directly receiving and implementing feedback.
As a startup, Welld needed to solidify their brand identity. We helped them curate their visual language through color and image choices, adhering to AAA web content accessibility guidelines. We started with a moodboard of potential visual directions (e.g. bold fitness reds, calm medical blues) and landed on a playful, friendly hive-like motif emphasizing their community-oriented nature. We went through many rounds of mockups and meetings, expanding my skillset as a collaborator and listener as I became increasingly comfortable making updates on the fly in Illustrator and Sketch to gauge client opinions in real-time. I learned how valuable and effective client relationships can be with consistent, immediate, and open communication.
I also designed and developed the first release of their iOS mobile app. I adhered to the brand identity and color scheme we’d previously determined, exploring personalization, gamification, and data visualization of user progress toward fitness goals. I realized the value of coming to the table with development and design knowledge to have a basis in what is reasonable to build. We integrated with various fitness devices to record activity data and connected with the company’s API so users could track their progress across multiple platforms.
